Fact check

Früh Verpackungstechnik AG, Fehraltorf, CH

Project focus

Planning and installation of an expandable automated guided vehicle system (AGV) from the EAGLE-ANT series with connectable transport management software

Scope

3 + 2 driverless vehicles for loads up to 1,500 kg in a cleanroom environment

Benefits

Up to 320 automated, unaccompanied journeys per day

Highlights

Cross-floor and cross-building routes; after initial installation (2016), successful plug & play integration of further vehicles into the network (2022); in 2023, the five vehicles have covered a total of 16,800 km

Tailor-made - Scalable - Efficient

A special challenge

A more efficient supply and disposal system for production in three buildings, over several floors, under clean room conditions. Safe, reliable, expandable, efficient and above all: simple. Undoubtedly a unique challenge for the intralogistics experts at Stöcklin.

Exactly the right solution

A customized version of the first EAGLE-ANT generation from Stoecklin became a proven helper for Früh Verpackungstechnik AG from Fehraltorf, Switzerland, which, among other things, contract packs medical products, back in 2016. Three examples of this intelligent automated guided vehicle (AGV) were tailored precisely to the company's specific needs and implemented with a user-friendly transport management system (TMS). In 2022, the network was expanded to include two more AGVs, which were seamlessly integrated into the existing installation.

The best investment we have ever made. Within eight months, the first two AGVs had already paid for themselves.

Hans Peter Früh, owner of Früh Verpackungstechnik AG

The following important aspects were combined:

Reduction to the essentials
Equipped with simple sensors and lean technology, the robust pallet trucks in the EAGLE-ANT series are designed to transport pallets and similar loads from A to B without interruption on routes used by people. No more and no less.

Simple operation
A traffic management system (TMS) on the master computer supports order entry and allocation, vehicle management, elevator control and traffic control.

Plug & play
EAGLE-ANT vehicles can be easily put into operation with a simple teach-in run and their routing can be changed without any problems. Additional AGVs can be integrated in just a few simple steps.

Energy-efficient and highly available
Fast charging function, long-lasting Li-ion battery system and energy management modes ensure maximum availability and high efficiency.

With these basic functions, EAGLE-ANT from Stoecklin have been low-maintenance, fault-resistant and safe on the road at Früh Verpackungstechnik for many years.

We have designed a niche market product that combines central basic functions and can be offered at a reasonable price, but can also be upgraded if required. An idea that quickly paid off for this customer.
