Positioned for international growth

The Podravka Group is currently strengthening its international market position through consistent investment in automation and warehouse logistics. The commissioning of a new semi-automated Logistic Distribution Center (LDC) for the Food segment in Koprivnica with Stöcklin was an important strategic milestone in May 2025. With 62,000 pallet spaces and room for 32,500 tons of goods, it enables technology-supported consolidation of operations and processes from eight regional distribution centers, reduction of transport routes and CO₂ emissions, and efficient expansion beyond 2030.

Different picking routes for different customers

The semi-automated facility was designed to support not only efficient storage but also various picking processes. This enables Podravka to use technology to handle orders ranging from large containers to  individual items in the new LDC – and to efficiently supply a wide range of customers, from supermarkets and commercial kitchens to kindergartens and small retailers.

In addition to the automatic direct dispensing of entire pallets, there is also an automatic depalletizing and repalletizing system that mechanically separates, pre-stacks, sequences, and reassembles single-use and reusable containers from delivered pallets of items. There is also a picking line for small quantities and individual items. Here, Podravka relies on partial automation with forklift drivers and a pick-by-voice solution, as well as automated replenishment racks for fast-moving items.

Thanks to barcodes and automatic scanners, all systems know at all times where which goods are located – down to the pallet and item – and how stocks are developing. This information helps to control the systems, optimize transport routes, plan production in advance, and much more.

Behind the system is a complete software package consisting of warehouse management, material flow control, and data analytics software: The Stöcklin logOS software suite became the basis for a seamlessly integrated data flow – from the ERP system, which transfers incoming orders, to the optimized creation and processing of transport orders, to the sequenced output of truck loads that are ready for shipment and route-optimized.

With a project of this magnitude, you have to be aware that the transition and commissioning will take place in phases and that developments will continue even after that. Stöcklin gave us the confidence that we would deliver something that would meet both our current requirements and our future growth.
