Metzgerei Pfitscher, an internationally renowned manufacturer of high-quality sausage products and meat specialties, presented us with a logistical challenge:
Our Solution to This Complex Challenge
A combination that connects two different types of storage halls into one solution.
Approximately three quarters of the newly built hall was designed as a single-aisle container stacking channel storage systems. This system is seven containers deep and three levels high, providing space for nearly 3,000 stacks of nine open E2 Euro standard containers (60 x 40 x 20 cm), with a total stack height of 1,720 mm. These containers can each hold up to 25 kg of goods. A fully automatic, 7.2-meter-high BOXer crane and a storage rover from Stöcklin are used to store and retrieve the maximum of 25,326 stacked containers.
The single-aisle container stacking channel storage system is divided into three temperature zones, and products are automatically moved to the appropriate zone before being transported at the optimal temperature for processing, slicing, portioning, and packaging.
Adjacent to the channel storage systems is the single-aisle FSP shuttle warehouse designed for the daily picking of fresh and ready-made products. This area accommodates up to 2,736 containers stored three-deep across on 12 levels. These containers are moved by 12 Stöcklin FSP shuttles, each operating on one level and enabling a throughput of up to 1,440 boxes per hour.
The scope of the project included the complete planning and construction of the transport systems, designed to meet food-processing standards. Additionally, our intelligent logOS warehouse management and material flow control software were integrated to manage the entire warehouse. This software ensures first-in-first-out picking and enables the plant to operate in a capacity- and energy-optimized manner.
