1. In your opinion, how important is the topic of green logistics in the industry today?

Green logistics is becoming an increasingly important topic in the logistics sector. In this context, a holistic approach—in line with ESG criteria—is coming to the forefront as a means of achieving the ambitious goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

There is a growing recognition that a consistent focus on sustainability in production, buildings, and infrastructure management can yield enormous economic and environmental efficiencies. And that eco-friendly logistics enhance a company’s profitability and future viability. More and more existing facilities are being made sustainable and future-ready through intelligent, sustainable retrofits.

2. To what extent is your company advancing the topic of green logistics?

For us, sustainability begins where we can make a difference: recyclable materials (such as timber), low-consumption local manufacturing, and responsible supplier management. We are committed to a sustainable infrastructure at our locations—with 2,250 photovoltaic modules including a storage battery, 60 geothermal probes, an electric vehicle fleet, performance-optimized and energy-efficient production technologies, and state-of-the-art office spaces.
We place particular emphasis on resource efficiency in the development of our new products, select environmentally friendly technologies and materials, and ensure transparent supply chains.
We are committed to low-emission automation—with intelligent energy management solutions for our AGV and forklift fleets (patented lithium-ion power pack, fast-charging and standby functions); energy recovery, IT-supported route optimization, adaptive dynamics, and minimization of emission sound pressure in rack-servicing systems and conveyor systems. This allows us to minimize energy losses in our systems—and help our customers reduce theirCO2 footprint in the warehouse by up to 20 percent.
